I have done work over the last week aswell as chill with the tv and chocolates, lots of letters printed out for the video piece of me creating 'the work' and just need to print off the letters for the other words on the wall at the custard factory.

Is NYE really that great ? we can all have a new year on any day we want, I would like to think we can have a fresh start everyday if we so wish, I'd like my birthday to be the start or maybe the first day of spring would be good, with the rest of nature regrowing and starting a fresh.

Well Well Well ....

Its nearly Christmas ... again .. it has come around fast this year, time does go faster when your enjoying yourself so I must of enjoyed some of this year ;-)

Work wise I am still looking at words to use, its quite difficult as each day brings a different mood and different words pop into my head, and it also depends alot on what response I want or can predict to a degree. I want to start printing stuff off and playing with what I have build up textures and play with angles.. would these words work going around a corner better than on a flat wall? colour should I keep to the black and white or start playing with the font colours or would that take away from the captcha idea? I think before I get back I need to have a selection of works to put up on the wall to look at and be the viewer.

Well interesting chat today with Yoke or Zoom depending on which Idenitity he was taking today, it was good that we were in a small group and were able to discuss our work and ideas together with Alex who was able to look from an outside point of view, I discussed the captcha idea which seemed to go down well, I have to find somewhere to put my work and that is the high priotity over the christmas break. I also want to design the font or find one close enough to distort on photoshop so it looks more captcha like, and also copyright my idea( to be disscussed with Alex) before people steal it !

So even though its a break from college ... work will continue.. we also have the wintershow to think about aswell,  over the holiday. It was so daunting last year, it seems such a long time ago now. How things change :-)

Thinking back to last year, we had a sound poet come to see us, I didnt really like what he personally did but I loved the way the poems were written, the bits of paper were art in themselves, the way the letters flowed and grew in size as the words or sounds got stronger in velocity, he also used symbols arrows and lines to express how the sounds were made. I dont want to be a sound poet but I do feel the need to use the way of writing. The book House of Leaves used a wonderful way of using the text to add to the story, having it printed in blocks or going down the page rather than across. I feel I could use this to work along side the captchas.

thoughts on text... today hasnt been a great work day, I am having thoughts about how different fonts may effect how things are read. does a spikey looking font make things look more vicous than curly ones? I shall be experimenting this eve after finishing my knitting :D

this week

This week I shall write my words on boards, I want to combine traditional and digital, use them together. I also need to find out how to write a proposal for my work it has been suggested that some of my ideas could be used within the college, it would be good to propose them and see what happens, maybe have a first installation of site specific art !

back to blogging...after a slight upset with the last laptop we are now back online and back to discussing the work Im doing at the moment, It hasnt been the easiest couple weeks work wise alot of decision making and trying to get my head  around a new way of working, while still doing what I enjoy.

Captcha

Quick new line of thought.. working with the Captchas that annoy alot of people by asking you to type in the words that appear all distorted in front of you.
The basic idea is to place these on the screen when people log in.. the words will be leading and then instead of being asked to type the words in the box .. they can type what they want.. some people will type what they see.. others may go with the flow. when I have the words I can work with them further to create a  piece for the college based on the findings.
